Demdike Stare – Tryptych

Demdike Stare – Tryptych
The Trilogy of their in 2010 released albums "Forest Of Evil", "Liberation Through Hearing" and "Voices Of Dust" are consolidated here plus six bonus tracks that were recorded in the same sessions. Obviously you realize that there are two special characters at the bottom of this sound: Miles Whittaker (DJ/Producer) and Sean Canty (Finders Keepers). Primarily they planned to compose a soundtrack for a horror movie, now it metamorphosed fortunately to a cutting-edge music project: Demdike Stare cultivate their dark and abstract sounds. They replenish them with minimal soundstructures and climatizing beats growing up out of gloomy ambient soundscrapes. With samples, mumbling synthsounds and disharmonious piano chords they suceed with illustrating pictures in your mind. "Forest of Evil (Dawn)" for example keeps some montone drum sounds, allegorizing you wandering through the boondocks when there Slowly appears a group of native inhabitants in, the dark light of flambeux behind the coppice, celebrating their traditional ceremony. Scared of their sinister appeareance you run away through the jungle and suddenly the sound is changing into warm, harmonious strings visualizing a kitschy, glittering picture of the beautiful landscape you were drifting in. This is how this music could operate. And this makes it really exciting.
