Joey Negro presents The Soul of Disco Vol 3

Joey Negro presents The Soul of Disco Vol 3
The third installment and maybe even strongest part of the celebrated "soul of disco" series discloses Joey Negro as a generous bloke again: he has been diggin deeper, harder and probably longer those rare disco gems than anybody else around today. As always he serves a crate full of of tracks that are rare and obscure - but not deservedly so - and define the genre Disco in it's primordial sense: a broad spectrum and different styles of  Soul music that people used to dance to in underground clubs or at block parties long before Major Lables put a Disco tag on every abomination and flooded the market with their bleached, heavily formatized and streamlined version of Disco. From the whirling uptempo Philly styled The J's - "When did you stop", hybrids between Modern Soul and Disco that got spins at Northern Soul floors in the UK ( First Class - Candy ), raw, earthy funk ( Evans Pyramid - The Dip Drop ), bumpy cuts with wild, slightly off kilter synth like those highly regarded P & P productions ( Vinzerelli - Skate dancer ), elevating Gospel  ( Gloster Williams - No Cross ), sonic experiments highlighting the new craft of remixing ( Walter Gibbons mix of Arts & Crats ), jazz-funk with big horn choruses ( Board of Directors - Hanging Tough ) up to the slower, more electronic 80ies Boogie style that took Disco underground again ( Phenomenal - blow you out tonight ) and Chic sounding Italo disco ( Cela - I'm in love ): every single cut is a revelation, testament to the depth and endless creativity of Disco and proof why the music remains an inspiration to so many DJs, dancers and music lovers.
