Review on: Various Artists – 00:AM, Vol. 1 (00:AM)
The Montreal label and party series 00:AM recently launched their first release plainly titled “00:AM, Vol. 1” on vinyl and by now also in digital formats. As stated on their network channels it all started as a small party project in bars, clubs and afterparty get together and has by now developed further with the intention to become a base for close people and friends to present the music that feels convenient to capture the vibe of the events. The musical makers of the first issue on 00:AM consist of Montreal mates Priori (aka one half on Jump Source together with Project Pablo) and Adam Feingold (to be found before on ASL Singles Club, Apron, 1080p), Mike Midnight from Australia and LA based AshTreJinkins (also on Apron before). Their creations placed on this 4 track EP present a round-up to different perspectives of what can be understood as modern floor related electronics and house music within a genre wise broad-ranging context. Balmy organic downbeat breaks with waving trumpets and moody synths open up and hand over to organic funk crafted deep house with a smoky jam session feel followed by subtly uplifting club works with mesmeric dub techno ingredients before spoken word dope house brings it all to an end with rawness and a certain head nodding appeal. Nice start with a colourful selection! Written by Jan (WPP) You can buy "Various Artists – 00:AM, Vol. 1" HERE from whatpeopleplay
