Review on: Vin Sol – Club Lonely Power Tools, Vol. 1 (Club Lonely)
Power Tools Vol 1“ is a quite promising name for a release, all the more as these Power Tools come from the man Vin Sol from San Francisco and his label Club Lonely, and it needs just about 10 seconds of listening to tell that all promises are kept: Underground House Music is what it’s about and it is as raw as it gets. Vin Sol worked hard on the drum machines, stripped it all down to the mere skeleton of electronic club music and produced four remarkable tracks. Melodies? Harmonies? Not available, this is beats and rhythms with some samples and 303 thrown in and nothing more. ‘Uncompromising’ you might call, in any way it’s obvious that these Power Tools are made for the club and nothing else. Of course there are already thousands of releases of club tools around but you won’t get them this efficient and slick too often. It’s not that Vin Sols Power Tools all sound the same though, there’s the stoically bubbling Acid of “Zone” (the “Club Lonely Remix” adds nicely piercing bleeps), the amazing simplicity of “Data Signal”, pretty much just a bass drum and some bleeps, and the wild Chicago House hammering on “Wts”, breathless and dirty. This is the fuel they all run on, dancers, clubs, parties, nightlife: the groove, full of grit and sexiness. Vin Sol knows what they need and delivers. These tools are gold for DJs, just pick them up. Written by João Geck You can BUY Vin Sol - Club Lonely Power Tools, Vol. 1, released on Club Lonely HERE from whatpeopleplay.com
