Springintgut – Summer Of Seven 1/7

Springintgut – Summer Of Seven 1/7
Pingipung seems to explore the world. After Sven Kacirek' release with African influences, Andi Otto / Springintgut captured some Indian vibes here. Last winter, Andi Otto and his modified cello with videogame joypads as sound controllers hit the road to India for a few month to bring us back some Indian melodies he collected with help of antique records. On this first part of Pingipung's 'Summer of Seven' series Andi added up to this sampled Indian melodies a drumcomputer and his own cello playing. And as a result it has no bearing on ethnomusic. Its conveyed into reliable electronica embedding Indian poetry and experimental stylistic devices.  'Bangalore Eagles' is a dramatic, hectic piece accompanied by a recurrent sitar theme and instrumental traffic like you would experience it in India itself (I have never been there). 'Bangalore Dawgs' is more balanced, slowly beginning with an interplay between the bass and the hypnotic cello that often gets out of hand. A jazzy piano and syncopated percussion form it to a lyrical soundtrack for the summer.
