Jamie Anderson & Owain K
Do You Know Remixes
Dessous Recordings

Maxi Single & EP
DESDD08
Out: 04-02-2013

Whilst Jamie and Owain get together regularly, both have their own studios and have increasingly been making use FTP and the web to share and work on their ideas. Their mixes on this release have been recorded between both studios and finalised at Jamie’s studio. Armed with Apple Macs, Logic Studio, Ableton, racks of hardware and various synths, neither profess to have a set way of working other than etching out a basic groove from a combination of beat programming, jamming or digging for samples until something gels.
Owain explains, “Having known each other and worked together for a good few years, we’ve very much come to the point where we don’t have to be sat in the same room to get each other’s vibe. It’s quite normal for Jamie or myself to put together a set of loops, zip it together and send it over the web to the other to see what the other thinks, repeating the process until the track moves further down the line”.
With the remixes, they set about with the same set of samples and decided to try out their own ideas and see where they met in the middle – as a result the “Inner Space” and “Deep Space” mixes were recorded separately, with each other swapping and adding to the mix. The “Jazz Reprise” version was however the result of them being sat together in the same room and adding and subtracting from the original version of “Do You Know” until they hit on a groove they felt happy with.

“When we do get together, it does add an extra something to the process. The original idea for “Do You Know” came about when we met up for a few days and were messing around with some beats and came across an incredible piece of spoken word. Before we knew it, without even a hint of time stretching, we dropped it over the initial groove and realised it was meant to be” adds Jamie.

About whatpeoplesay.com

Whatpeoplesay is a blog project centering around all kinds of actual electronic and alternative music. Whatpeoplesay has been started in February 2011 by certain people from whatpeopleplay.com and wordandsound.net as a playground to share more thoughts and information about the music we love. We at Whatpeopleplay and Wordandsound are otherwise managing a downloadstore called whatpeopleplay.com and a business to business (wholesale) distribution called wordandsound.net. With both we try to serve music devotees and record shops around the world with high quality music since 1999. Feel invited to take part in this. We´re sure there´s even more to say about the music both we and you like. It´s all an open, developing process and we have, at this time, just started yet. Help us getting the word out by contributing your taste and opinion on our favorite topics. Let us know how we do, how you like what we say and if you like: tell us what you have to say.
