Three Things Owain K plays…

February 1, 2013 | 0 Comments

More heat from the ever-dependable Dessous Recordings, Steve Bug’s outlet for his deeper-edged tastes. Jamie Anderson & Owain K delivered an exquisite summer moment in 2012, dropping their instant classic ‘Do You Know‘ to a rapturous reception from dancers and DJs alike. The remixes by Soul Minority, Inner Space and The Jazz Reprise are out on Feb.4th. So we asked Owain K what else he got in his case:

Here are Three Things Owain K currently plays:

-

Recloose – Don’t Get Me Wrong – Illusions of Grandeur

Soul fuelled upbeat vibes from the evergreen genius that is Matthew Chicoine, the kind of production that never fails to lift the mood whether it’s early doors or after hours. Drawing on true heavy disco vibes, the mix of organic percussion, rolling bass licks and melancholic vocals gel ever so sweetly and seem to come even more alive, the more you play it. With another disco groover on the flip and a remix from Tornado Wallace, this a solid package that won’t let you down.

-

AKRA – Akra Sounds Vol 2 – Teng
Is it house, is it balearic, is it electronica? Whilst you may struggle to define exactly what genre is going on in this record (quite frankly, who cares?), there’s no denying the craft that lies behind it. “Stir Fried” and “Hear To Create” head out to the far end of the milkyway with their twinkling trippy touches and moody atmospherics. However, when the rest of the world is going mad outside, reach for sonic duvet that is “Sonnox” and wrap yourself in its oasis of calm, a blissfully peaceful and heart warming piece of music that is very much what got me listening to electronic music in the first place.

-

Round Two ‎– New Day ft Andy Caine – Main Street Records
Whilst the world seems to be going mad for 90s New Jersey influenced house sounds right now, it’s easy to forget that Main Street Records (aka Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus) released some of the most incredible and enduring house and techno edged music during period that I can think of.  Heavy on the bass, the purest of pure vocal harmonies are drenched in emotive chords: one of those songs that is never far from my box and comes straight from the heart. It doesn’t come much better than this.

About whatpeoplesay.com

Whatpeoplesay is a blog project centering around all kinds of actual electronic and alternative music. Whatpeoplesay has been started in February 2011 by certain people from whatpeopleplay.com and wordandsound.net as a playground to share more thoughts and information about the music we love. We at Whatpeopleplay and Wordandsound are otherwise managing a downloadstore called whatpeopleplay.com and a business to business (wholesale) distribution called wordandsound.net. With both we try to serve music devotees and record shops around the world with high quality music since 1999. Feel invited to take part in this. We´re sure there´s even more to say about the music both we and you like. It´s all an open, developing process and we have, at this time, just started yet. Help us getting the word out by contributing your taste and opinion on our favorite topics. Let us know how we do, how you like what we say and if you like: tell us what you have to say.
